Debby

I was born and raised in Staunton, VA and except for 2 brief years, I have always lived in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley. My husband, Gary, and I currently live in Waynesboro, VA. I earned a bachelor’s degree as an adult student and spent 23 years working for Mary Baldwin University in several positions including Director of Operations for the Adult Degree Program, Director of Operations and Administration for MBU’s health sciences college, and most recently, the University’s Senior Accountant.
What most excites you about your work and the contribution you can make?
The work that I do for CUMC requires a variety of skill sets – operations, accounting, administrative, etc. – the exact skills I’ve spent years honing. There is no doubt in my mind that GOD ordered my steps and directed my path in connecting me with CUMC – I feel it and see it every day. I am blessed to be able to serve GOD through my work at CUMC!
What are you passionate about?
I have two grown children that live in the area, and I am fortunate to see them frequently. I also have a grandson, Spencer, who is the apple of my eye! I absolutely treasure our family time. I enjoy singing in a community chorus, the CUMC chancel choir, and the CUMC praise team. My husband is the church music director, so our home is always full of music which is such a blessing.
What do you like most about Crozet UMC?
Without a doubt, the people! We felt a warmth and connection from the moment we attended our first CUMC service in May 2019. From the commitment to outreach ministries (Grace Grocery, etc.) to the kindness and care with which members treat each other – GOD’s love is evident at CUMC! There is a joy and an excitement that is palpable, and I am grateful every day that GOD has placed me here.
