Go: Serve God Like the Shepherds
If you have ever wrestled with your worthiness, then our worship this Sunday is for you! The shepherds of the night shift were not considered to be the best and the most worthy. Reeking of sheep and sleeping outdoors, they were considered to be low class and best kept outside the city walls. Yet God saw in them a chance to live out the ministry of Jesus: radical inclusion and empowerment. So the word of the birth of the Messiah came to these men, and they immediately go to see for themselves. They leave their wards, abandon their jobs, and rush into the city as they were. The reward for their risk is the gift, the honor, and the privilege of seeing the Lord with their own eyes. They go and serve the will of God by being the first witnesses to this miracle of God with us: Emmanuel. Join us as we give thanks for God’s acceptance and encouragement for those who hear and obey even today. Associated Scripture: Luke 2:15-20
