Beyond the Pulpit 11.3.24

Crozetumc   -

Good Morning CUMC Church Family,

Today is All Saints Sunday, and I hope you’ll be joining us for worship as we honor and remember the saints in our lives. We are so grateful for the beautiful, handmade All Saints Bell Banner, that will carry the sounds of the saints as we begin worship today. David Breininger, Mike Micucci, and Jamie Monohan all worked together and shared their skills to create this beautiful piece that can be used for years to come!
This coming week, as we anticipate Election Day, first, I encourage you to VOTE! And, I hope you’ll also take advantage of these opportunities to pray for our country and the election.
  1. 2pm, Tuesday, November 5 – Election Day – We are invited to join our neighbors at Tabor Presbyterian Church for prayer at their Peace Pole. Simply arrive at TPC at 2pm for prayer in and with our community.
  2. Each day, at 8 a.m., noon, 6 p.m., and 10 p.m., through Election Day, We are invited to pray the Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi (found below) with Bishop Sue Haupert-Johnson, the Cabinet, and all Virginia Conference Leadership

Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi (Prayer for Peace)

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.
O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Last week was busy beyond the pulpit. On Sunday evening, I joined others from CUMC for our annual Charge Conference at Aldersgate UMC…I am certain that those who attended Costumed Wiffle Ball with the Youth at Crozet Park had more fun! On Monday evening I joined our CUMC Justice Team for IMPACT Charlottesville’s Community Problems Assembly and led the Opening Reflection & Prayer with over 275 people in attendance. On Tuesday evening I wrapped up the fall season of Bedtime Story & Prayers with Pastor Christy. Wednesday our new phone system was installed at the church and I joined Debby for training on the new system. And on Thursday, I had my annual meeting with our District Superintendent who had positive things to say about our ministry together at Crozet UMC!
I am grateful to be in ministry with you!
