February 9th Worship: “God Never Gives You More Than You Can Handle”
Continuing the exploration of the concept from where does suffering come, this week we examine the statement that God never gives us more than we can handle. This position assumes that it is only God giving us anything. Human reality is that we receive good and bad from other people, individually and collectively. Our sin and the sins of others affect us, and cause everything from pain and suffering to chaos and brokenness in us and in our lives.
The Prophet Jeremiah shares that the sins of the people have cause undue and unjust suffering for the orphans and the needy, those impoverished and in need of kindness and mercy. Perhaps what God is giving us is strength in community, the Body of Christ, and a promise that all the catalysts for pain and suffering, i.e. sin, sickness, and death, will end in the Kingdom to Come. This Sunday at 9:30 or 11:00 am, come and see.
