June 21st Worship – King Nebuchadnezzar’s Episode of Psychosis
As we continue to explore how mental illness is depicted in the Bible, we discover how an episode of mental illness grants us an opportunity to see that human beings are more than their struggles and disabilities. King Nebuchadnezzar was the world’s most powerful ruler. As king of Babylon, the greatest world power in its day, he had the longest reign. All of that might have ended when he suffered an episode of psychosis and his reality became a living nightmare. Today, an estimated 100,000 youth and young adults experience psychosis for the first time each year, according to the National Alliance on Mental Health. That means the suffering of a mental break is more common than we may be aware. King Nebuchadnezzar finds restoration; can we help others find the same? See for yourself the surprising insights this week’s Scripture has to share with us at 9:30 am (Contemporary) or 11:00 am (Traditional) on Facebook. Come and learn how we might become better at helping others through the darkness.
