Beyond the Pulpit 4.20.25

Happy Easter CUMC!
I cannot wait to see you this morning as we come together to celebrate the touchstone event of our faith, the cornerstone of Christianity: the resurrection. As a people of faith, we will begin in the darkness of twilight, where resurrection begins. Throughout the morning, we will make our way to the Easter Proclamation with flowers and trumpets: He is risen. He is risen, indeed. Alleluia!  Invite your family, friends, and neighbors to join us!

Beyond the pulpit this past week, I’ve primarily been preparing for each of the events on our Holy Week journey to the cross and Easter. From palm crosses to Easter flowers, and Good Friday rehearsal to sermon writing, and services on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday, it’s been a busy week…Holy Week always is! Additionally, I’ve provided care to the family of Gwen Smith who passed away on Wednesday. We are preparing to celebrate her life on Tuesday.
We also continue to move forward with the sale of our home in Midlothian. This week we booked the movers and continued packing. Here in Crozet, I am so grateful to CUMC for installing a new dishwasher (to replace the deteriorating one) and garbage disposal (it was leaking beyond repair) at the parsonage, and a new laundry shelf and kitty door for our cats! Special thanks to Hank Weil and Mike Micucci for overseeing these projects!
What a joy to share in the joy of Easter with you!
Easter Blessings,
Pastor Christy
