Beyond the Pulpit 3.23.25

Good Morning CUMC!

I hope you’ve had a good week!

Unfortunately I barely made it beyond the pulpit after last Sunday! After attending Concerts on the Corner (which was FABULOUS – don’t miss next week’s concert by Sacred Harmony Sunday, March 30, at 5pm!), I took a pretty quick dive into a severe head cold with laryngitis, which has kept me down all week. After 2 trips to the doctor, I tested negative for Flu A & B, COVID, RSV, and strep. I’ve had no energy and no voice since last Monday morning.

Last week our internet throughout the facility was upgraded, and our staff worked tirelessly to reset all connections for onsite worship today. Our ministries continued uninterrupted, and worship will take place today with the excellent leadership of our staff and lay leaders, and guest preacher Rev. Devon Earle, Campus Minister and Director of The Wesley Foundation at UVA. It is truly a gift to be able to serve alongside the good people of CUMC, who keep things going even when I’m unable to.

I think I began to turn the corner yesterday morning with just a squawk of a voice. I am grateful for all of your prayers and expressions of care and concern, and I hope to be able to ease back into the office next week.
