Beyond the Pulpit 9.1.24
Happy Labor Day Sunday! It’s hard to believe we’re officially rounding the corner from summer into fall.
As we do so, I hope you’ll consider ways to get connected and deepen your faith through the ministries and opportunities at Crozet UMC. Your staff and leaders have been working hard to offer opportunities to live out our vision to Love, Grow, & Go! Plan to join us for our Ministry Fair at 10am on September 8. This will be a great time of food, fellowship, and fun as we kick-off the fall season celebrating all the ways to serve God through Crozet UMC.
This past week, here are a few of my highlights beyond the pulpit,
- Bart and I met with folks who were interested in serving as Grow Group leaders. Things are really shaping up and we’ve got a team of leaders for each Grow Group. Of course, it’s always great to have more, so if teaching/leading classes of any age is of interest to you, don’t hesitate to reach out!
- I got to meet and share a meal with both Rev. Liz Hulme Adam, pastor at Tabor Presbyterian Church in Crozet and Rev. Madison Ailinger, pastor at Christ UMC in Staunton. It’s been great to get to know some of the other clergy in the area.
- The leaders and staff at Crozet Avenue Christian Preschool and I shared breakfast together. I shared plans for this year’s preschool chapel theme: The Fruit of the Spirit, and they shared their dreams for the coming year. The first day of school for CACP students is this coming Tuesday!
- I completed a 3-week continuing education webinar entitled “Stepping Up to Supervision.”
- I attended a meeting for IMPACT Charlottesville. Our church partners with other faith communities in IMPACT to address concerns of injustice in our community. I will be hosting a House Meeting at the parsonage at 6:30pm on September 10, where persons are invited to share their stories and consider joining this effort. Please let me know if you’d like to attend. If this date/time doesn’t work, there are other options as well!
I am grateful for the opportunity to serve with this CUMC community of faith, and I look forward to seeing you soon!
