Message for 10.31.21: The Sacred and The Profane

Why are some things in the church so important to some and inconsequential to others?  What does it mean to be holy, or hold something sacred?  This is what historian of religions, Mircea Eliade, attempted to explain in his work.  By exploring the boundaries between the sacred and the profane, or common, Eliade gives us a framework for thinking about how each of us in the Church is motivated by acknowledging and preserving what we hold sacred, and how we navigate differences with others.
