July 21st Worship: Real Christians Do Not Backslide
Real Christians are not perfect, and Jesus never expected that we would be. Instead, Jesus reveals through the Scripture lesson this Sunday that real Christians know struggle, backsliding, and the need to be forgiven by God more than once. Authentic Christianity recognizes that we do not cease to be human and inclined to sin when we become Christians, but that we discover that when we do sin, we know the path to forgiveness and reconciliation. We are able to find our way home to God’s good grace and rekindle our righteousness with greater ease than the first time. Discipleship is not about perfection, but perseverance in our relationship to our Lord and Savior.
